PROIN 3D calls upon VERTICE on behalf of the ADIF so to immerse the public in an interactive 3D model of the future TGV station of Valencia (Spain)

20/07/2010

The ADIF, Administrator of the Spanish Railway Infrastructures, makes discover the future TGV station of Valencia (Spain) thanks to a real-time 3D modeling realized with the NOVA for 3ds Max of VERTICE solution, solution of creation and visualization of interactives 3D contents.

GOAL

To prepare its presence to the 30th edition of the FITUR in Madrid (International fair of Tourism), the ADIF (Administrator of the Spanish Railway Infrastructures) wished to offer to the public a virtual interactive 3D model representing the future high-speed station of Valencia.

CHOICE

PROIN 3D, intervening for the ADIF, adopts the NOVA 2009 solution of VERTICE to create an interactive model of future TGV station of Valencia.

Before the real-time realization, PROIN 3D was charged to conceive and realize for the ADIF a 3D film presenting the project of the station. All the 3D modelings and animations were done with the 3ds Max and Vray. The move to real-time was done with NOVA 2009 of VERTICE, after a large work of optimization of the 3D model and its textures. In spite of a plural offer on the 3D market, three reasons justify the choice of the NOVA 2009 of VERTICE solution:

- Its compatibility with 3ds Max, main 3D tool of ADIF.
- Its quality of rendering (shadows and reflexions), its ease of use and the no Royalties commercial policy.
- The customer assistance ensured by VERTICE.

In order to improve this 3D experience, the real-time project - allowing an immersion in the future infrastructure of the LGV LEVANTE - was projected at the show on a 6 meters diameter circular screen. Not less than 210.000 visitors present this year thus could discover and evolve in the real-time 3D scene using a joystick.

BENEFITS

“It is a big innovation in Spain in term of 3D applied to the infrastructures. With the appearance of this new tool, the decision makers and the clients foresee for certain projects broader perspectives to communicate with the populations, for their public dialogues,” explains Bernard Bressy, in charge of the commercial development of PROIN 3D.

The ADIF finds, through real-time, a new way of communicating, a powerful and ludic tool because it is interactive. It is a complementary tool, which does not have the role to replace the informative videos already used for the presentation of projects.

The real-time 3D project of the TGV station of Valencia is thus a true success which should allow the opening of new markets.

NOVA 2010: REAL TIME 3D FOR ALL

The ergonomics of NOVA Studio, which is its interface, has been completely revised for more simplicity and intuitivity. One can from now on change the textures on the fly, select colors with a dynamic chromatic wheel, visualize the lights and the cameras of the scene while being able to duplicate them, move them or create some on the fly, to change the focal distance, to capture screenshots of the scene in preset formats, to restore the position of a camera…. The enrichment of the Design mode also makes it possible to directly design a scene from scratch in Nova Studio. Nova 2010 also offers new import formats from 3D software: NOVA 2010 opens from now on formats as FBX, DXF, OBJ and 3DS in addition to DAE and X formats. NOVA 2010 also manages the customized importers in the form of plugins.

AN INTERACTIVE 3D ENGINE IN FULL DIRECTX 10

The move of NOVA 2010 to DirectX 10 allows the support of the 4.0 shaders, which improves the visual performances and quality while allowing to have access to new graphic options. The use of the 4.0 shaders brings in particular more speed for the shadows, the particles, the bones and allows to get high-resolution textures. NOVA 2010 preserves nevertheless a full compatibility with DirectX 9.

In terms of performances and compatibility, Nova 2010 manages DirectX 10 and DirectX 9 for the Nova Web Player. It also brings a full support of the 64 bits with a unified installer for all the versions of Nova and the support 3ds Max 2011 and Revit 2011. It also offers an extension of the Nova Web Player to IE, Firefox, Opera, Safari and Chrome. Vertice also implemented in NOVA 2010 a new version of its Vortex Physics engine: new system of interactions between physical objects and animated objects, support of the multithreading, new algorithm of contacts for a largely improved stability, support of the gravitational and repulsive fields of attraction.

The important improvements of NOVA 2010 on a graphics point of view are:

  • Vertice has fully redesigned it real time shadows engine to bring more precision and simplicity in the settings. It is also more powerful and adds the supports of the real soft shadows.
  • New post-process effects: blur, motion blur, depth of field.
  • Ambient Occlusion: allows to give more realism to the scenes by a system of attenuation of the lights and shadows.
NOVA 2010 also offers three new functionalities that need to be underlined:

  • The multi-touch mode, to be used on multi-touch touchscreens as well as on the Microsoft Surface Table.
  • The compatibility with the NVIDIA 3D Vision stereoscopy technology which allows to visualize scenes in 3D and the possibility to display simultaneously a scene several screens (horizontal split, vertical split, sterescopy, multi-cameras).
  • Possibility to define webcams as sources of textures.

“NOVA 2010 will surprise many by its ergonomics pushed to the extreme", declared Yann Faure, director of Vertice. “Vertice knows that a tool, however powerful it can be, does not make everything if the users do not manage to use it intuitively and do not find the required functionalities." he added.

VERTICE ANNOUNCES WITH NOVA SERVER THE FIRST TECHNOLOGY OF FULL WEB VISUALIZATION IN THE WORLD

28/05/2009

Real time 3D democratization is moving. Vertice, creator and editor of the NOVA real-time 3D engine , issues a world premiere here, with NOVA Server, the first technology of real-time 3D visualization  in the world, allowing any user to navigate in any 3D virtual model from the Web, whatever the configuration of its computer.

The 3D for the Web has more than ten years and its use was always slowed down by the lack of bandwidth and the insufficient performances of the commonly used graphics boards. All these obstacles slowed down the massive adoption of real-time 3D technologies on the Web. Today, Vertice, with its NOVA Server technology of visualization, raises all these obstacles.

NOVA Server is the only technology able to not calculate the images on the computer of the user but on a dedicated server. This server will calculate the image thanks to an application installed on it and will send back this image at a JPEG format . With the NOVA Server visualization tool, the virtual model or the 3D scene are not stored anymore on the workstation of the user but on a server which automatically generates calculations of displacements made by this remote user. Consequently, no more problem of insufficient bandwidth or impossibility of a correct display: the revolution of real-time 3D on the Web is moving.

We are at the start of a revolution on the Web. Were you never frustrated to reach a presentation of a car on the Net and to have to wait several seconds before your computer can post the least zoom or the least change because of a too low flow or too old equipment? With NOVA Server, any person who goes on the Web will be able to benefit from an immediate display in an optimal quality whatever PC he uses, whatever Internet bandwith he has. NOVA Server is based on a distant server which is equipped with powerful graphics cards and which allows to get these fast and of high-quality rendering.

NOVA Server is also multi platform and is compatible with all the navigators because the exchanged data are simple images.

NOVA Server is also compatible with all the peripherals including a simple cellphone and it is multi-user and thus authorizes the share of visualizations.

The NOVA Server technology is absolutely free and accessible for any end user. On the other hand, the professionals will have to buy a licence allowing the diffusion of their scenes created with the NOVA engine .

More information about Nova Server here.
